I woke up feeling not too good today, almost pre-flu-esque, but hopefully not really. To take my mind off the headache, nausea, and creepily sensitive skin, I’ve spent the afternoon reorganizing my laptop & downloading updates. All those photos I had stashed on various memory cards, CD’s, and on my comp are now all tidily arranged in appropriate files. I haven’t bothered renaming, them, though, so just DEAL with the camera filenames.
So how about some photos of England from February?
The spire of Salisbury Cathedral rises over the town.
Did you know Salisbury Cathedral has its fine copy of the Magna Carta on display (for free) in its Chapter House? "Copy" isn’t really accurate – original "copies" were sent to all the great cathedrals in 1215. Most of them were lost over the years (or destroyed). The keepers of the Salisbury document are justifiably proud of their beautifully preserved piece of history.
Salisbury’s spire is the tallest in England. You can’t miss it.

If you’ve seen one picture of Stonehenge, you’ve seen them all. Which isn’t to say Stonehenge itself isn’t worth seeing. I expect it’s downright creepy in the fog or at dawn. Or in the fog at dawn.
But Avebury was an entirely different matter. Photos really don’t do it justice – lovely little medieval village, surrounded by a stone circle (what stones they’ve been able to find and replace in their original locations, that is). Well worth a visit, and unlike overpriced Stonehenge just down the road, totally free, and not fenced off. The stones actually gave me shivers. But, then, I’m a dork. And I like rocks. Especially BIG rocks.
I don’t know why, but I developed a particular fondness for this stone. It has personality. And I think it photographed well.
OK. Maybe I do have a fever. But I still like the big rocks.
